Use your “Summary” section to tell your brief story of who you are, your competencies, and what you hope to do with your career. Be compelling, peak interest. Speak to your passions (interested in fintech), and type of work environment you like (looking for a collaborative and ambitious team). Mention your accomplishments (“shipped 2 apps”, etc) so that your abilities stand out! Include links to your Github, personal website/resume/portfolio and list all languages/frameworks you have used.
Constrain it to 4-5 sentences.
Includes all buzzwords relevant to the job or industry you want to go into. Recruiters search Linkedin using buzzwords (skills: iOS, Java, Python; interested in education, B2B products, etc). You can list them at the footer of your summary.
Tailor LinkedIn to the job you want, not necessarily where you are in currently
Be brief and make it easy for people to skim the entire document.
Put all projects in the “Experience Section” of your profile - it will make them more visible instead of folded at the bottom. When you do this, be sure to include “- project” or “(project)” at the end of the title so recruiters don’t get it confused with a full time role.
Link to each of your projects - and include any press you may have.
Ask instructors for LinkedIn recommendations. If you say, “I go the extra mile” in your summary, ask your recommender to tell a story of a time you did that.
Photo - should be professional: business casual with eyes contact with the camera
Add all industry people (recruiters, engineers, etc.) you meet, PC students and MS staff to your network
Summarize the improvements and upload them to Blackboard.
